As a traffic control equipment supplier, Econolite has been involved in a wide variety of projects for over 74 years. These projects have been as simple as supplying display equipment for intersections to providing engineering, equipment integration, installation, and tests of multi-intersection systems. Econolite has over 4500 arterial systems in operation controlling in excess of 45,000 intersections. Additionally, Econolite has over 50,000 wide area video vehicle detection systems operating in both intersection and freeway applications. Throughout its history, Econolite has strived to provide leading edge technology solutions for traffic management. This is made possible by advanced engineering capabilities which include both hardware and software development, evaluation, integration, productization, and testing. The result has been a number of Econolite innovations including development of the first digital controller, introduction of the first microprocessor based controller, the first wide spread application of closed loop arterial control systems, installation of the first NEMA TS2 Type 1 cabinet assembly, introduction of the first wide area video vehicle detection system using multiple camera inputs, and support of the NTCIP protocol. In addition to its proprietary product development, Econolite also provides custom hardware and software development to provide solutions for specific customer requirements.
